Established in 1999 by a group of youth from the Shan State of Burma (Myanmar), Kaw Dai so called Shan State Organization – Youth (SSO-Youth) has been working in the State with the aim of promoting democracy and justice by means of educating grass-root communities on the basic knowledge of political, economic and social issues. By providing informal but quality education to young people, we believe that they will be better able to participate in the process of decision-making at community, township, state or national levels, and hence, in the general development of their communities. We also work to improve the living standards of the disadvantaged by providing health services and opportunities to upgrading their livelihood skills. Being a non-profit organization, SSO-Youth has been financially supported by different generous donor-groups. In order to achieve our goal, we have implemented the following major programs and are continuing to work on the similar, but expanded programs.
